The manufacturers of the world's second most popular erectile dysfunction medication Cialis, has recently commissioned a survey of over 1,000 men over the age of 40
Eli Lilly said that this survey was part of a new plan to raise awareness of erectile dysfunction and Cialis treatment in the UK.
The campaign which is called 40over40 shows that a lot of men know very little about the problem of erectile dysfunction and that only just over ten percent are aware that the problem often strikes over the age of 40. In fact statistics show that 40 percent of men over the age of 40 suffer from mild to severe erectile dysfunction.
Another thing which the majority of men are unaware of is that erectile dysfunction is often a warning that they are suffering from a more serious underlying health condition. Under twenty percent of those men interviewed were aware of the link between erectile dysfunction and heart problems or other serious medical conditions. In older men lack of erectile function can signal as much as an 80 percent likelihood of other medical problems.
Eli Lilly said that while men were extremely concerned about erectile dysfunction and often had a problem seeing a doctor about it they should be encouraged by the fact that 95 percent of all erectile dysfunction cases are able to be treated successfully with drugs such as Cialis.
The campaign which is being launched at the beginning of next week in the United Kingdom will also be accompanied by a television advertising campaign and will be encouraging men to talk about their problems with a doctor. Eli Lilly will be using the strapline Talk, Test, Treat, Today to encourage men to get on with doing something about the erectile dysfunction.
Another bit of information which came from the Eli Lilly survey is that almost 25 percent of men said that they used the internet to find information about health. This is a little bit worrying as there is so much rubbish about erectile dysfunction on the internet especially from the illegal web sites which sell fraudulent and substandard erectile dysfunction medication.
