Revatio, a drug with the same active ingredient as Viagra has been offered to patients suffering from pulmonary arterial hypertension
A clinical program conducted by pharmaceutical giant Pfizer found that Viagra can reduce blood pressure in the artery and improves the ability of PAH patients to exercise.
There are around 4,000 UK sufferers, with around 4,000 believed to be undiagnosed.
Revatio has been launched in the UK for the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), a rare lung disorder that most commonly affects women aged between 20 to 40. Revatio has the same active ingredient as Viagra - sildenafil. It was launched in in the USA in August, 2005 and Germany in January, 2006.
