On 1st October 2015, U.S health authorities warned consumers about the risks of “herbal” non-prescription products that are being sold to improve sexual performance.

It has recently been reported that Lamar Odom, former professional U.S. basketball player and husband of reality TV personality Khloe Kardashian, who has allegedly used so called “herbal Viagra” in the past, is now in a critical condition in a Las Vegas hospital.

Although, the actual cause of Lamar’s collapse is not known, it has been reported that he collapsed in a legal brothel in Nevada, USA.

Gregory Bales, a professor of surgery and an urologist at the University of Chicago, commented on potential dangers of unregulated sexual performance supplements:
“You can get into trouble because some of these remedies for sexual prowess are stimulants. For sure, these supplements, taken in sufficient quantity, can cause problems with your cardiovascular system.”
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has discovered that some supplements sold as “herbal alternatives” to prescription-only medications (POMs) to treat erectile dysfunction (such as Viagra, Cialis, and Levitra) actually contain the active ingredients of those drugs.
Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra, can be dangerous for someone with an undiagnosed cardiac condition, and other conditions such as high or low blood pressure.
Sildenafil (Viagra) was originally developed to treat heart conditions, but was found to be more effective at treating erectile dysfunction, however, it is still used to treat cardiac conditions, in some cases.
The FDA warned the public about purchasing “all natural” sexual enhancement, weight loss and body building supplements. As the FDA are unable to test and identify all products marketed that have potentially harmful hidden ingredients.
The warning message from UK regulatory bodies is exactly the same for UK residents: The potential danger to your health, and to potentially even dying, is not worth the risk.
Only use legal and trusted British sources for prescription-only medication (POM), which require an actual precsription before dispensing a POM.
UKMeds4U only offer genuine UK/EU-sourced branded prescription-only medication (such as Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra), and will NOT dispense any POMs without first issuing a private prescription (where suitable) by a UK GMC-registered doctor.
