It has been suggested that Viagra could prevent further loss of vision for patients with poor eyesight and even repair eye damage.
Scientists at Columbia University in New York have been conducting a two year trail. They suggest that Viagra could stop age-related macular degeneration (AMD).
AMD is the UK’s leading cause of blindness.
Recent research have found that AMD is partly caused by reduced blood flow to the choroid (a vital layer of tissue that sits in front of the retina), and it has been found that Viagra can improve blood flow to this tissue.
Viagra is a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
